here comes the cold!

my first new york winter was awful. we had weekly snow storms for about two months straight and i was nowhere near prepared for it. the novelty of snow quickly wears off when it's minus 10c outside and you can't feel any part of your body. not that that stopped me from dragging sean out after the first storm - i was adamant that i was going to experience and love my first new york snow! sean was less than pleased, especially as i kept stopping to take photos of him trudging through the snow:
i've since learnt my lesson and now live in perpetual fear of the winter. i was spared last year as we had the mildest winter that even rivaled winter in london, but now that the temperature has dropped here, i'm getting scared again. of course, ellie's been ill all week (thank you, daycare), but that means that we can stay cozy and warm at home with the yummiest of hot chocolates to heat us up. i can get through any winter with this stuff!

home alone

this time last week, sean was at work, ellie was at her first full day of daycare and i found myself home alone all day for the first time since having ellie. it was strange (and very quiet), but also lovely to have some time and the apartment to myself. of course, i ended up watching a few videos of ellie and wondering what she was up to, but i definitely enjoyed being alone for a while and best of all...i got to enjoy a whole cup of tea without being interrupted or it going cold :)

working from home

sean's been working from home a lot lately, which has been great for me as i've had someone to talk to who can respond with something other than a gurgle! sean, on the other hand, ends up with this from time to time. not very conducive to working, but definitely very cute!

home for the holidays

after christmas, we flew over to london for ellie's first visit. she got to meet the rest of her family and a lot of "aunties" and "uncles". we were really nervous about flying with a baby, but ellie was great (although she was more interested in people watching than getting any sleep). i'm so happy that my family and friends got to meet her and that she got to spend time with her london grandparents in person rather than over skype. plus, sean and i got to have a few evenings out on our own - i don't think i've ever been so excited to go out to dinner! no matter how long the trip, we just never seem to have enough time when we visit london. and i always miss it so much when i leave. until next time, london...
